Running a business in Central Florida is demanding enough without worrying about whether your books are right. But that's exactly where a lot of business owners find themselves. They opened a restaurant or started a service company and nobody walked them through quarterly sales tax filings, or how to set up payroll properly, or what happens when the numbers don't line up at tax time.
Zacosta Bookkeeping exists because these problems are preventable. Not with a quick fix, but with the right habits and the right financial foundation underneath your business.
This firm was built on corporate finance experience managing multi-million dollar hospitality operations across Florida, the Caribbean, and Puerto Rico. That background means your books are held to a standard that most small business bookkeepers don't have the experience to deliver. Every reconciliation, every report, every filing is handled with the kind of precision that large operations demand.
But precision alone isn't the point. We also believe in teaching. When we clean up your books or set up your QuickBooks system, we want you to understand what we're doing and why it matters. The goal isn't to create dependency. It's to help you develop financial habits that stick, so your business stays organized and you can make decisions based on real numbers instead of guesswork.
We serve businesses across Orlando, Orange County, and the broader Central Florida region. Our team is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, which means we can work with the full range of business owners in this community.
Meet Johanna Zayas
Johanna is the founder of Zacosta Bookkeeping. She holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration with an accounting major, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
Before starting this firm, Johanna spent 17 years in hospitality and food and beverage finance. She managed full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for hotel and resort properties in Florida, the Caribbean, and Puerto Rico. That included single properties generating over $4 million annually, multi-property resort portfolios, and the largest Marriott hotel in the world.
In those roles, she supervised teams of accountants across multiple locations. She led financial tracking and analysis for multi-million dollar renovation projects and insurance claims for storm-damaged properties, working alongside auditors, legal counsel, and risk management teams to ensure accurate documentation and recovery. She knows what audit readiness looks like, how internal controls should function, and what GAAP compliance actually requires in practice.
That corporate background is exactly what she brings to small business bookkeeping. The same rigor. The same reporting standards. The same financial discipline. Just applied to businesses that normally wouldn't have access to that level of expertise. She's seen what happens when the financial side of an operation falls behind, and she's built her firm around making sure that doesn't happen to her clients.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Johanna is fluent in both English and Spanish. She works directly with every client and is always available to answer questions or talk through the numbers when you need her.
